What is ABLE® GC91?

ABLE® GC91 is a microbial bioinsecticide formulated with Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. aizawai GC91 (3.8%), specifically developed for the control of difficult pests. It holds COFEPRIS Registration No. RSCO-INAC-0105-368-002-004.

Its technological foundation is an exclusive, transconjugated and hyperactive strain optimized to deliver enhanced insecticidal potency, improved field persistence, and high industrial stability.

The innovation behind the GC91 strain

ABLE is not a conventional Bt. It is based on a hybrid transconjugated strain (aizawai + kurstaki), developed through horizontal gene transfer to enhance the production of specific Cry toxins.

Transconjugated and hyperactive strain

The GC91 strain was improved to:

• Increase production of Cry1Aa and Cry1Ab, essential for worm control in fruiting horticultural crops
• Generate synergy among multiple insecticidal proteins
• Improve stability during fermentation and shelf life
• Enhance persistence and performance under real field conditions

The result is a more potent, more stable, and scientifically optimized strain, effective even against advanced larval stages (L3–L4).

Triple lethal action with high Cry toxin concentration

ABLE® GC91 acts through a biological system of three complementary modes of action:

1. Protein crystals (Cry toxins)

It contains multiple Cry toxins—particularly Cry1Aa and Cry1Ab—which activate in the insect’s alkaline midgut, bind to specific receptors, and cause cellular disruption, paralysis, and death.

2. Viable spores

These germinate inside the insect, enhancing insecticidal activity through septicemia.

3. Fermentation derivatives

They act synergistically with crystals and spores, increasing the overall efficacy of the treatment.

Thanks to its high concentration and internal synergy, ABLE® GC91 achieves greater efficacy even at lower doses, optimizing cost per hectare.

Designed for difficult pests in high-value crops

ABLE® GC91 was specifically developed for the control of:

Spodoptera spp.
Helicoverpa spp.
Trichoplusia spp.
Plutella spp.

Its performance stands out even in L3–L4 larval stages, where many biological products tend to lose effectiveness.

Its high specificity and microbial origin, make it a strategic ally within IPM programs and organic or low-residue production systems.

Formulation technology with integrated UV protection

The ABLE® GC91 formulation incorporates:

• Integrated ultraviolet protection for improved persistence under solar radiation
• Optimization for applications at a pH close to 6.5
• Evening application recommendation to maximize efficacy
